Kingspan Cavity Closers
Subframes UK is an approved fabricator for Kingspan, supplying Kooltherm and Thermabate cavity closer systems for masonry cavity wall construction.
Kingspan manufactures insulated building products. Their cavity closer range uses high-performance insulation cores to reduce thermal bridging at window and door openings, supporting Part L compliance.

FAQs
What is the difference between Kooltherm and Thermabate?
The two products use different insulation cores. Kooltherm uses a phenolic core (0.022 W/mK) and Thermabate uses a urethane (PUR) core (0.034 W/mK), giving Kooltherm the higher thermal performance. Both are suitable for masonry cavity walls and compatible with the same frame materials.
Kooltherm is also SAP 10 compliant, making it the appropriate specification for new build residential projects with Part L energy calculations.
Can Kingspan Kooltherm Cavity Closer be used with different frame materials?
Yes. KKCC is compatible with timber, metal, uPVC and composite window and door frames. It is suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects across the standard cavity width range.
How does Thermabate prevent condensation and mould growth?
The urethane (PUR) core reduces thermal bridging at window and door reveals by retaining heat at the junction. Thermabate also acts as an integral DPC, preventing moisture ingress around openings. Together these reduce the risk of condensation and mould on reveal surfaces.
Is there a fire-rated option in the Kingspan range?
The standard Kooltherm and Thermabate products do not carry an independent fire rating.
Can KKCC PLUS be ordered to specific opening sizes?
KKCC PLUS is manufactured to order based on specified opening dimensions. Provide measurements at the point of enquiry. For non-standard openings or shapes, custom fabrication is available.
